Trout are a popular catch for BC sports fisherman, but few people realize that trout need a little help to keep their population growing. That’s where the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery (FVTH) comes in. Located in Abbotsford, BC, the FVTH is home to the Fraser Valley domesticated rainbow trout program and maintains a captive broodstock of these fish. An interactive Visitor’s Centre provides a fun place for kids of all ages to learn more about these amazing fish. Founded in the fall of 1977, the FVTH stocks approximately 150 lakes and streams a year with trout. The Visitor’s Centre is committed to teaching our littlest global citizens about trout conservation through self-guided tours of the facility, informative videos, and live exhibitions that showcase different freshwater ecosystems and species in B.C.
